I am running the Quickstart version of Typo3. I have a Windows 2000 machine and have successfully installed Apache and PHP. The front end works perfectly, however, when I try to enter the back end, I get the following message:

Error: This host address ('localhost') and the referer host ('') mismatches!
It's possible that the environment variable HTTP_REFERER is not passed to the script because of a proxy.
The site administrator can disable this check in the configuration (flag: TYPO3_CONF_VARS[SYS][doNotCheckReferer]).

I have disabled cookies and still get the message. I am typing the default username ADMIN and password PASSWORD.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

wait... you disabled cookies??? well, typo3 does NOT work without cookies. so it would be good to reactivate them... 🙂

BUT: before loggin' in into the backend, you first have to configure everything via the install tool "/typo3/install/". pwd is joh316 by default. It is advised to change this. And then, if all this is done, try one more time to log in into the backend.
