Hi folks,
After many passed deadlines and countless hours of work, the new TYPO3.com
website will go online at 15.00 CET today.
As most of you already know, there is a new layout and logo on the surface,
but the main difference to the existing site is a new and hopefully much
simpler structure to navigate and find information in.
Basically all texts were written from scratch, so it is an entirely new
website.
TYPO3.com is aiming to communicate the software to potential users and
administrators (your clients) and new Web agencies that are looking for a
CMS, regardless of it's license.
That means the site is much more communicating like a corporate site than
most Open Source websites (e.g. Apache, gnu.org, postgres...) because to the
client the software foremost has to deliver.
TYPO3.org will come soon (next few days) to cater to the needs of the
developer community and will focus on information and interaction.
Another radical change is that the subject of contribution has become much
more important within the site. This is because TYPO3's future depends on
the amount and the steadiness of donations and sponsorships.
Some release notes:
-Server-speed: this is Kaspers old server, the website will move to the new,
faster server in the next few days.
- Consultancies: if you have at least two professional looking websites to
your credit (not including your own) and think you should be listed on the
.com consultancy-list, please apply on ter.typo3.com and then send me a mail
with a short explanation.
The same goes for references.
Please do not expect me to have seen all the great things you have been
doing automatically with my X-Ray eyes, ok?
There is also no warranty to be included of course. If we want to maintain
some standard, we have to be strict in the beginning. So try to help the
cause by letting me know about your best work, not just any project, just
because you want to get listed.
All your entries will be visible on .org!
- Documentation: this is an interim list, the .org-site will have a new way
of publishing the documentation. Wait and see.
- Snowboard: all of you who want to come but also all who have already paid,
please register on the new page!! I can then set the flags for those that
already paid.
- Credits:
The website has been designed by Daniel Schubert. The pictures were taken by
Kasper over the summer, my friend Thomas Dashuber in september in Munich,
and myself in the Alps in late october. Programming was done by Jan-Hendrik
Heuing and Kasper.
The text was reviewed and corrected by Kasper, Daniel Thomas, Michelle
Heizer and Nigel Jackson.
Thank you all people, you've made this thing happen!
Finally I would like to say thanks here on the list to you all for holding
out for so long and for the feedback some of you will certainly give me
helping to complete the information over time.
