Hi, this may sound like an extremely stupid question, but how do you create an user? I understand that you go to list, and go to a folder with Users and then you can create a new user. The thing is that i started with a Dummy Package, and that folder thing is not there. Please help. I am very new to TYPO3, but i would like to get the best out of it.
Thanks a lot
Can you please reply in english because i do not understand german.
Hi brokenbin,
you got to distinguish between Backend and Frontend-user.
If you are new to Typo3, you might want to create a new admin user because of the security note when you login the backend?
Please describe what you want. Shall this user just have access to certain areas in the Web site or will this user do more (editing, writing,...)

I am trying to create a back-end user. I already have an admin user, which is how i log into the back-end in the first place. And i have already changed the user name and password for security purpose. What i want to do is just to create a back-end user with all access rights.
Thanks 😃

Hi brokenbin,
for creating a BE user with admin rights:
1) Click on the left menu Web on List
2) Click on the Earth Symbol (root). The right frame will change.
3) Scroll down the right frame until you find the link "Create new record". Click it.
4) In the new frame, click on "Backend User"
5) Fill in the field username (only uncapitalized letters works best) and password.
6) Check the Checkbox "Admin(!):".
7) Save the User by clicking on one of the disksymbols on the top or bottom of the right frame.
You are done.
Hope it helps,
Falk
Oh, it definitely helps a lot, thank you very much. By the way, can you please give me some direction as to how to start with typo3? I find it to be an extremely powerful system, and extremely flexable, but at the same time extremely hard to start.
Thanks
Yes, with the hard start - that is right. It is flexible and therefore complex.
A good start might be "Getting Started"http://typo3.org/documentation/document-library/doc_tut_quickstart/
Afterwards, I would take the "Modern template Buildung, Part I" http://typo3.org/documentation/document-library/doc_tut_templselect/
More documentation can be found at the document repository:http://typo3.org/documentation/ . Just enter the documentation matrix.

Right now, I am able to create back-end users no problem, but can you also show me how to create front-end user and how to create a user group? I am also wondering about how a small sub-folder of users can be created like shown in the image: http://typo3.org/typo3temp/tx_oodocs_7d8c894762.png
Thank you very much.
Hi, sorry for that, but I cannot walk you through Typo3 step by step...
...but here a genereal description:
- Create a new page of the type SysFolder
- Change to the Web->List view
- Click on create a new record
- Click on either Web site user or user group
As you can see, BE-Users have to be created at the root (world symbol), whereas FE-Users might be created wherever you want (but you should do it at one place).
(Hope nobody will cruzify me for this🙂
BE-Users can change content, FE-Users can see password-protected content.

Ah... It's all clear now, Thank you very much.
